First blog
Well here is it, my first blog.
For anyone who’s in the I.T. profession, you will know what its like with family and friends.
Whenever there is an issue with their PC, your phone rings and to some degree I don’t mind. I’m the type of person who will help someone else with no questions asked. The problem comes when you fix or resolve an issue, then it breaks again. Whether its because the fix you provided hasn’t worked or because the person using it isn’t PC literate.
When the above happens you tend to get a funny situation, where the friend of family rings you back and implies its your fault because you touched the PC last. The only real instance of this i’ve suffered, is from some components my wife’s shop sold to my brother. They were all branded quality components, motherboard, processor, ram, etc. For some reason my brother had loads of issues, the machine randomly restarting, and the keyboard lights on when the machine was turned off. We spent a lot of time trying to resolve the situation and it turned out to be a DVD writer that my brother had fitted later on. Megatech lost money from the amount of time they spent trying to resolve the issue and this is where you need to think before saying to friends and family that it’s no problem.
From now on I have decided to only support my father and the people I know would be happy to return the favour should I spend a lot of my precious time repairing their systems.
