The perfect mobile device
I’ve been reading alot about Windows Mobile 6, the new Microsoft O/S for mobile devices like PDA’s and Smartphones.
I’m a great fan of Windows Mobile powered devices. I have owned a Windows Mobile device since Windows Mobile 2003 SE and love the fact that I can work with documents and receive emails on the move.
Well I’m due for a upgrade and there are two issues I now face
1) I’m with Vodafone and the WM devices they offer for upgrade aren’t exactly revolutionary. I could cancel my contract then purchase a new phone and contract bundle from an online retailer like expansys (this is how I got my latest device an i-mate SP5) or alternatively take a device on upgrade from the limited Vodafone range
2) What device would I be looking for? I’m a real difficult customer when it comes to mobile devices, I want as many features packed into my device but I want to be able to put the phone in my pocket and forget about it, I want to be able to use a stylus but dont want a large touch screen, I want wireless and 3G for connectivity on the move… etc, etc.
I commented on James O’Neills blog recently about a new line of i-mate devices, the ‘ultimate’ range. They look nice and have the specifications to be an impressive device, my only concern is that i-mate are no longer rebadged HTC devices which may or may not be a down fall. Like James says, you can sometimes wait a little too long for the perfect device only to find it never arrives or you get sick of waiting which is why I think from here I will work out what features I ‘really’ want in my next device and find one that comes the closest.
I’ll keep you all posted
EDIT: After posting this blog, I discovered a new HTC smartphone which looks almost perfect, shame about the lack of 3G. See here for details.
