I.T is an asset, not an expense
When will small to medium sized companies realise that I.T is an asset and not just an expensive sent to hinder the profit margin?
I’ve worked for companies of varying sizes, with varying I.T requirements and most of them have been the same; they only spend money on I.T when something either breaks or needs updating.
Its not always the right attitude to take.
I.T is like employees, its an investment, its the infrastructure on which your company relies upon.
If you are at a workstation now, imagine how your working life would be without it. I’m guessing a living hell.
One of my previous employers took this attitude towards I.T, he refused to spend even a small amount of money on anything I.T related, yet when he couldn’t get access to his emails because his old workstation hard drive had failed he was up in arms.
It doesn’t stop there, image how much money your business could generate if each member of staff could had an extra hour or two per day to spend of the things your business requires of them? This is easily possible if your I.T infrastructure is well planned and people ready. If more money was spent on the systems which are specifically designed to optimise business functions, one or two hours per day is an easily attainable figure.
