I know it’ll be the second time I have linked to Mashup of Mayham in as many weeks but I think its quite an interesting story;

HTC announce official Windows Mobile 6 Upgrades for their range

“Upgrades Will be available from June with the associated lag for operator take up This via solopalmari (great Italian practice) HTC have announced the official upgrade policy for their range of handhelds the statement indicates that the following HTC devices will be supported by official Windows Mobile 6 upgrades:HTC Advantage, HTC Tytn, HTC S620, HTC P4350 and HTC P3300.”For those who don’t know HTC have a major market share in Windows Mobile devices ranging from smartphones, through to PDA’s. You may not know the brand HTC but this is because many mobile phone operators re brand the HTC devices as their own. Many other manufactures also follow suite, the likes of Qtek and iMate (until recently).

The reason for this making an interesting story is because HTC have announced upgrades for their devices, this will theoretically mean this upgrade will be available for all the operator branded devices but this very much depends on the operator.

My thoughts and prays go out to all who own a operator branded windows mobile 5 device that has potential upgrade rights, the operators in the past have favoured the purchase of a newer device rather than offering ‘free’ upgrades / updates to older devices.

It will be very interesting to see whether they will offer the upgrade and how long it will take to become available.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed and you all updated.
