When Vista was first released I bought a copy for testing mainly. Being in the industry I’d like to get to know the new O/S before I have any dealings with it.
So I installed Vista in what I thought at the time the ‘easiest’ configuration.
HDD 1 – Windows XP
HDD 2 – Windows Vista
Vista installs its boot manager program and changes the MBR on HDD 1, so when your PC boots you get the O/S choices list.
All fine, well and good until….
You want to remove XP and just use Vista.
The problem is (unless im missing something) there is no way of getting the boot manager back on the Vista drive (HDD2) and get it to boot.
I’ve tried all sorts and in the end gave up, I’ve posted a a question on Experts Exchange and await a answer eagarly.
If you have any ideas (read the EE post first please) then feel free to leave a comment.
