Voice command

Published by Guy at 12:10 pm under Miscellaneous

I was sat in the car the other day when travelling between sites, it was a long boring journey and the majority of it I was sat in traffic.

I sat thinking to myself about the ‘voice command’ concept and why its not really used in pretty much everything? I know the recent introduction of unified communications into Exchange 2007 are a fine example of how this technology can be easily used with no voice training but it leaves me wondering why more industries and technology providers aren’t offering this in every day life, a classic example; answering machine services.

When I ring Orange voicemail, yes I can voice dial the number (despite the fact I have to press a button to activate voice dialing) but I then have to use the keypad to make selections through the Orange menus, to listen, delete, go back etc.

I agree with what James O’Neill says here, I think its an massively under stated technology which should be a bigger part of our lives.

If the technology was available, I could of blogged this via voice whilst on my long boring journey. Voice commands, bring it on.
