Media Serving with WebGuide4
After reading this recent post from GottaBeMobile about Ascii Express’s WebGuide 4 becoming free I decided to give it a try.
I installed the now free download on my home Vista Ultimate PC and after a few minutes configuration I’m up and running. I have to say its a very slick piece of software and so far I’m very impressed.
I can stream or view all my music, picture and video library from any internet connected PC or mobile phone. I have not yet had chance to try the TV tuner function due to needing a new aerial cable in the office but as soon as I do I’ll let you know how the remote record and view functionality works.
Its just a shame that I refuse to leave my Vista PC on all the time as I already have a Windows 2003 server running permanently. I think I am going to have to rethink my home media setup as having to wait for Vista to boot to listen to music all round the house is becoming a real issue.
If you want to see some other screen shots of the software in use click the thumbnail above.
I’d love to hear about your home media setups and how you consume your music, pictures and videos.
