Google Maps Mobile I posted last month how Windows Live Search (WLS) mobile had really helped me out with directions and shopping well over the weekend I managed to put Google Maps Mobile to the test.

We were in Birmingham for a show at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) and stopping in a near by hotel. The morning after the show we need directions from the hotel to a restaurant for some well earned breakfast.

I fired up Google Maps Mobile on my Vodafone v1415 and used the new ‘My Location’ feature to pinpoint our location without the need for a GPS aerial, it tracked us down to within 300 metres which was incredible. I think ran a search for the restaurant chain and the closest was a mere four miles away. Upon asking for directions Google Maps Mobile instantly put our current coordinates into the directions from box and began calculating a route.

We set off with much anticipation and despite a small error on the map readers part, we arrived for a needed coffee and breakfast.

The whole process was very easy and an excellent experience and the new version is a great step by Google.

I highly recommend you try out Google Maps Mobile and can do so by pointing your Windows Mobile device at www.google.com/gmm
