NVIDIA enters the mobile processor market; enter APX 2500

Over at the Mobile World Congress (MWC08) Nvidia made a pretty big announcement that its going to have a fairly big impact on Windows Mobile and the smartphone platform as a whole. They have developed their first mobile applications processor, the APX 2500 which is based around on ARM11 core and able to run at speeds up to 750MHz. Couple this with the ability to encode and decode 720p high-definition video and add the necessary architecture to run multiple cores you are left with a hugely capable processor.

A demo device was shown as an example of how hardware manufacturers can utilise the new hardware;

Its great to see this example user interface running on Windows Mobile and its even better to see another highly profile company like Nvidia manufacturing components designed specifically for the platform. It can only mean good things to come.
